I have never understood the theory behind tough love. To me, it just seems to be a phrase used to disguise abuse, to gaslight the victim into thinking that there is indeed something wrong with them and your friends and family are just trying to help you by telling you that you’re a piece of shit. What kind of ass-backward, bullshit logic is this?
I had a very long post, and then I deleted it all. Because you know what, at the end of the day, if you’re going to send me a shitty text and get mad at me for telling you it’s not true? You’re not my friend. It doesn’t matter that you started it out by saying, “I say this with love.” Because the rest of the text went on to prove you don’t have the slightest idea who I am. I am not like other people. I see the color in the wind. You just keep on keeping on with your black and white life. And take your tough love and shove it where the sun doesn’t shine; that is not what love is.
