It’s 77 degrees on a late July Friday evening. She has rum for her and all the fixings for a vodka martini for him. Burgers sizzle on the grill, and Queen currently pumps from the speaker.

She sits at the table, happy and content, as she watches him at the grill. He turns and notices her watching him. He smiles at her as he takes the burgers off. “Ready to go in,” he asks?

Smiling, she nods and gets up to follow him into the house. There they make plates and drinks and head out back to eat under the umbrella, bringing the music with them.

The view of the horizon is magnificent from this angle. The tree-covered hills and the town below make this the perfect spot for an evening meal. They discuss their plans for the weekend as they finish eating, nothing elaborate, but spending time together as they complete household tasks.

A song comes on slightly tipsy, they get up and move into each other’s arms. Swaying to the beat, they dance on the deck. She smiles into his eyes; he looks into hers. They stop moving as he lowers his head and places his lips on hers.

The kiss, which starts sweet and tentative, quickly turns passionate. She looks up into his face. Their eyes lock. He cups her cheek with one hand as his baritone voice sings, “When I look, and I find I still love you.”

Smiling into his loving face, she takes his hand as they walk into the house. Closing the door behind them, they spend the rest of the evening showering each other with all the love in their hearts.
